EthicKids

EthicKids is built so that there is nothing to disclose beyond this: the app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, about a parent or a child, because it has no way to.

What this app does not do

No account or sign-up, for a parent or a child.
No advertising software, and no tracking or analytics of a child's use of the app.
No access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photos.
No collection of a child's name, age, voice, or any other personal information, ever.
Nothing a child does in the app, such as which scenarios they complete or how they answer, is ever sent anywhere. That stays on the device only, described below.

What the app stores, and where

A small amount of information is saved only on the device itself, in the app's own local storage:

Which scenarios have already been completed, so progress is remembered the next time the app opens.
Whether sound is muted, and whether the full set of scenarios has been unlocked.

None of this is sent anywhere. It is not visible to us, not backed up to any account of ours (we don't have one), and not shared with any third party. Uninstalling the app deletes it completely, on the device, with nothing left behind anywhere else.

Reading aloud and sound

The app can read scenario text aloud, using the text-to-speech engine already built into your device. It also plays two short sound effects. Both happen entirely on the device, and no text or audio is sent anywhere to make this work.

Children's privacy

This app is designed for children aged 8 to 12 and is built, from the ground up, to collect nothing from anyone who uses it, child or adult. There is no chat, no way to enter free text, no user-generated content, and no way for a child to communicate with anyone else through the app.

Purchases

The app offers a single one-time purchase to unlock the full set of scenarios. This purchase is the only feature in the app that uses the internet.

Purchases are processed by the billing system of the app store you installed from — Google Play on Android, or the App Store on iPhone and iPad. To confirm and activate an unlock, the app also uses RevenueCat, a third-party purchase-management service, which receives a record of the purchase (such as which product was bought and when), together with basic device information such as the device model, its app-store country, and a per-install identifier that lets an unlock be matched to the right device. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or any other information that identifies you or your child, and this data is encrypted in transit. This app itself never sees or stores payment details: card numbers and the like stay entirely with your app store.

No other part of the app uses the internet.

Data deletion

Because almost nothing is collected, there is very little to delete. If you would like any purchase record removed from RevenueCat's systems, contact us at the email below and we will action the request.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated and the new version posted at this same address.
